One of the quickest ways to induce sales, is to use a combination of personalization, mixed with a sense of urgency. The result of these two powerful blends of marketing, is my “coupon code” trick.
Here’s how it works…
This Quickie assumes you already have a mailing list, and a product on offer.
Lets assume you sell something for $25. Perhaps, a course of some kind. You’ve used the other Quickies included on this disc to help build a mailing list, and you want to quickly generate an influx of new sales, in time for your birthday/a holiday/vacation whatever. For any reason you decide.

The “coupon code” email trick Quickie overview… One of the quickest ways to induce sales, is to use a combination of personalization, mixed with a sense of urgency. The result of these two powerful blends of marketing, is my “coupon code” trick. Here’s how it works… This Quickie assumes you already have a mailing list, and a product on offer. Lets assume you sell something for $25. Perhaps, a course of some kind. You’ve used the other Quickies included on this disc to help build a mailing list, and you want to quickly generate an influx of new sales, in time for your birthday/a holiday/vacation whatever. For any reason you decide. So, how do you quickly reach your income goals, and extract cash from your list? Here’s the exact steps… 1. Take your product, and knock 25-40% of your usual price point. So, your $25 ebook becomes $15, for instance. But don’t update any of your main website pages. Leave that offer untouched. 2. Write a quick announcement email, stating why you have knocked the price down (summer sale, you want to take your partner on vacation, Xmas is around the corner, whatever). Be honest about it. Make no excuse for wanting to make cash fast, but at the same time, don’t make it your focal topic. The offer should be just as seductive for people now, as it was when they first joined the list. 3. Make up a random 4-5 digit number, and call it your “coupon code”. I would recommend sticking to numbers, simply because there’s less chance of typos when it comes to your clients entering it into your web page. If you must use letters, make sure you capitalize the exact code and avoiding using indecisive characters, such as “I” or “O”, which can easily be confused with 1/0. 4. Make mention of that code in the announcement you wrote in step # 2. You want to make the coupon code sound exclusive, and specific to your preferred clients. I’ll show you an example soon. 5. If you’ve got PHP installed on your web server (which you really ought to have, if possible), then use the coupon.php file I’ve included along with the quickie in the main menu. If you don’t have PHP installed, then either ask your web host to install it, or create your own custom system.
You’ll need to edit the coupon.php file, and make necessary changes to the actual promotion page (what I’ve included, is just a sample..) in HTML, to represent whatever you’re offering in the email. 6. Test it’s all working, and then send out the email to your list.. and spend the next couple of days fulfilling orders, and counting all the cash you’ve just earned! |
