The Magic Pop-Up Technique
Quickie overview…
Even though the response rates of pop-up boxes have waned dramatically over the past couple of years, they’re still an effective marketing medium. Why? Because, if you offer relevant information on your product, it allows you to detach an important message away from the main body of the sales letter itself.
So, it’s great for getting your point across.
Usually, though, there’s two things standing in the way of doing just that…
1. Most pop-ups are immediate. In other words, as soon as a customer visits the page, your site will show them one (usually asking them to sign-up to some kind of email list). This is a poor way to get your message across. It’s like handing someone a written sales letter to read, and then turning on the television. It’s distracting and worse still, is delivered before your clients have read your letter.
2. Most pop-ups go after the wrong thing. Email leads are fine (and a great thing to collect), but wouldn’t it be nicer to go after the immediate sale?
The Magic Pop-up is different…
It’s built on three premises…
1. It’s “delayed”. In other words, it’ll show on the screen after a given interval. This allows your prospects to absorb enough of the sales letter to have their appetite whet by it.
2. They’ll have no idea it’s coming. And when it does, it offers them something that the main sales letter doesn’t. This is important. It means more people will take note of it.
